Spicy Vegan Cauliflower Alfredo Sauce Pasta is a game-changer for comfort food lovers. This flavorful dish combines the creamy richness of classic alfredo sauce with the added kick of habanero peppers and the health benefits of cauliflower. It’s packed with nutrients and is simple to make, proving that healthy and delicious can go hand in hand.
Alfredo sauce is a timeless classic but packed with heavy cream and butter which becomes very high in calories and fat. Therefore, I created this healthy cauliflower alfredo sauce recipe without the dairy, saturated fat and guilt. It’s creamy, velvety and bursting with flavors.
What is Alfredo sauce?
Traditionally, alfredo sauce is made of butter, heavy cream and parmesan cheese. It uses dairy to create its mouthwatering flavor and is very different from white sauce.
Cauliflower when blended with other ingredients, creates the similar creamy traditional texture.
Health benefits of cauliflower
Its a cruciferous vegetable packed with vitamin C, K and folate along with potassium, magnesium and calcium. Along with being high in fiber, its also a good source of antioxidants. It mainly consists on choline which is very important for overall development of brain and works to prevent several diseases. Moreover, its low in carbohydrate and calories which in turn helps in weight loss.
Cauliflower is a versatile vegetable and can be enjoyed in a tikka masala curry form. I also love it in cookies which is absolutely a unique dessert recipe. It is a very common ingredient in a soup and I love my creamy cauliflower soup. It gives a nice thick texture in dips and bang bang cauliflower is a favorite snack on any given day. I also used it to recreate Chinese entree which is orange cauliflower recipe.

Ingredients notes
Cauliflower florets – Make sure to it fresh. You may use pre-cut florets too but frozen may not work here due to excess moisture content.
Nutritional yeast – This gives a nice cheesy flavor and adds vitamin B12 also.
Habanero pepper – Habanero peppers makes this recipe very unique and different from the rest.
Seasonings and herbs – Simple herbs and seasonings make this sauce delicious and satisfying.
Coconut milk – I used beverage-style coconut milk so as to keep this recipe lighter. Canned coconut milk which is unsweetened and light can also be used.
Pasta – I used spaghetti here to make it look more attractive and we love to twirl spaghetti in our forks. Any pasta of your choice will work here. To make it gluten-free you may use any gluten-free pasta also.

How to make
Firstly, I boiled lots of water in a large pot and then I submerged the florets for few minutes in it. As soon as they were softened, I drained and kept aside.
Secondly, in the blender, I combined cooked cauliflower, habanero pepper, coconut milk, nutritional yeast, garlic, oregano, salt, sugar and black pepper. Then, I blended it smooth.
Next, I heated olive oil in a pan and poured the blended sauce in it. Then, I stirred it at intervals and cooked at medium-high heat until it started to thicken.
Thereafter, I tossed in cooked spaghetti and folded it will with the sauce.
Lastly, I adjusted the taste and garnished with parsley. Sprinkle of garlic powder also taste good.
I was delighted to have been able to create alfredo sauce with cauliflower yet have the same comforting taste but without the guilt.
Serving tips
This is a complete dish in itself and can be served as is. However, a baguette or garlic bread can be served on the side. Salads also pair well and add fiber to the meal.
Storage tips
This tastes best when served immediately. however, the leftovers can be refrigerated in an air-tight glass container for 1-2 days. Warm it well in the microwave before serving.
If planning to prepare the cauliflower pasta sauce ahead of time then let it cool down to room temperature and refrigerate it in an air-tight glass container for about 4-5 days. Warm it over the stove in a pan and serve it as per your desire on pizza or pasta or as a dip.
Expert tips
- It is important to soften the cauliflower florets but not cook too much. If cooked too much along with the water and then drained, they lose their nutrition.
- Habanero pepper is extremely spicy and should be handled with care. You may use food-safe hand gloves and remove the seeds before blending.
Yes! Wash it thoroughly under cold running water so as to remove any dirt and then follow the steps as mentioned.
Not exactly, however, this recipe tastes very similar though.
This recipe is made creamy and thick. Just make sure to drain the cauliflower really well after boiling and do not add any extra liquid other than what is mentioned.

Do you cook the carrots
Gunjan says
Carrots does not need to be cooked. Just blend it in the blend with other ingredients as mentioned in the recipe. Then you cook the sauce as mentioned in the recipe instruction. Hope this helps 🙂
