Ingredients notes
Watermelon – I used fresh and seedless watermelon chunks for this recipe.
Dairy free milk – I used almond milk here but you may use any dairy free milk as per your taste.
Mint – fresh mint leaves definitely adds some nutrition and a fantastic aroma to it.
Ginger – its good for digestion and moreover it adds a lot of flavor to it.
Dates – I like to use dates because of its health benefits. Dates are high in fiber and is a whole food too. They sweeten this recipe perfectly keeping this recipe healthy and nutritious. You may use banana instead if desired. Maple syrup would make it thinner in consistency so I do not recommend it in this smoothie.

Expert tips
It is important to blend this smoothie in high speed blender until its creamy. Even though the ingredients are easy to blend but it starts to become creamy after blending for few seconds to a minute.
This watermelon smoothie tastes best when served immediately. However, you may keep it in a glass jar with a lid for few hours in the refrigerator. Stir and enjoy.
Yes! Frozen watermelon chunks will make this smoothie thicker. However, for a quick and convenient recipe I personally prefer making it with fresh watermelon.
I have used dairy free milk in this recipe to give it a smoothie texture. This makes it taste different than a juice.

this looks so cool and delicious and i can’t wait to try it. i tend to find watermelon is sweet enough as it is so i’m wondering if can leave out the date? thanks
Gunjan says
Hi Jaquie! Dates are definitely debatable. Since I blended almond milk with watermelon so a little sweet boost was very welcoming for us. Also, it depends on how sweet the watermelon is. So, I would recommend to blend all the ingredients without dates. Taste test it at that point and feel free to adjust the sweetness with or without dates. If you want you can add dates after taste testing and blend it again to adjust its taste. However, I have added only 1 date which again is divided into 2 servings so its not going to be too sweet anyway. But this recipe can be customized as per your taste. Hope this helps 🙂
