Health benefits of blackberries

They are packed with vitamin C which boosts immunity and also plays an integral role in collagen formation in the bones. With being high in fiber and low in calories it promotes regular bowel movement thereby helping in good digestion. It’s a great source of Vitamin K and manganese. These berries boost brain health and supports oral health too.

Ingredients notes

Blackberries – I used fresh blackberries but frozen also works well especially if you like thick smoothies.

Dates – Since, I made this beverage without banana, hence I used dates to naturally sweeten it. Dates are high in fiber and potassium and are a very healthy ingredient.

Hempseeds – I like to add natural plant protein in my recipes and hence hempseeds add adequate protein and fiber here.

Almond milk – I used almond milk because it’s easily available but you may use hemp milk for an extra boost of protein. However, coconut milk does not work here very well.

For detailed measurements of ingredients, please scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

How to make

Firstly in a blender, I combined rinsed blackberries, dates, hempseeds and almond milk.

all the ingredients in the blender.

Secondly, I blended it very smooth.

Lastly, I poured it into the serving glasses and garnished.

This was the best vegan and creamy blackberry smoothie.

Variations

Chia seeds – This also goes well here and can be blended with other ingredients

Protein powder – any plant-based unflavored protein powder can also be added to the blender for the extra boost of protein.

Nuts – chopped nuts can be used for garnishing.

Expert tips

  • It’s important to blend everything very well so that there are no chewy lumps at the bottom.
  • It might start to change its color so serve immediately.
