Wouldn’t it be amazing if one morning you realize that with just a smile you could achieve your goals for the day? Wouldn’t you smile at the thought of having nothing pending in your “to do” list? Have you ever wondered the importance of a smile in our day to day living?

I would like to share my personal experience about how I realized that a smile can do wonders.

One morning while changing my baby’s diaper, I was mentally going through my schedule of the day. I was so preoccupied with just organizing the list in my mind that I did not see what was coming on my face. Yes, my baby peed like a fountain on my face and that was her way of greeting me “Good morning mommy”.

One day when I was making chai for my family, instead of cardamom powder I sprinkled black pepper and made it a spicy chai. My husband was unaware of that and took the first sip and screamed “oh Lord save me “

Then arrived the day for my grocery shopping and I decided to take my 1 year old super hyper baby to the store. My baby was trying to play bowling with the eggs and the floor of QFC was covered with broken eggs. I was all blank again busy with the list in my mind. (No wonder they have been remodeling the floor for the past few months). When I came back home and was organizing the grocery then I realized that I shopped disaster. I bought parsley instead of cilantro, garlic instead of ginger, zucchini instead of cucumber and so on.

I didn’t know whether to be angry, or upset at myself, or to cry or laugh. I felt like a clown. At that point I decided to take a break from everything and everyone and indulged in day dreaming. Half a day passed by and something started buzzing in my ears. It kept saying “No work and all play makes jack a dull boy”, I tried ignoring but this phrase kept ringing in my mind and my ears making me feel restless.

Next morning was the turning point for me; I woke up feeling horrible and had a infinitely long pending stuff in my “to do” list.. Suddenly I went blank and stared at the wall and just smiled. A gush of relaxation flowed through my mind and body. My face muscles relaxed, I felt the clarity in my mind, I felt my heart rate getting slower. There was more blood circulation throughout the body. I felt as if I was calmer and my stress level had gone down. I developed a positive approach towards everything around me. Suddenly I felt that I could achieve all my goals of the day. I was able to create a pleasant atmosphere around me. I was a happier and a successful person that day.

I continued the same strategy the next morning, I woke up with a smile on my face again I could achieve my goals of the day. Whenever I felt stressed I tried smiling and it gave me the courage to face the challenges. My days changed, my life changed and I as a person changed. Now with lower stress levels and a clear mind I am more successful and happy. My family is also happier than ever.

I realized the importance of a smile and from there on I wake up every morning with a smile.

There are several benefits that comes because of a smile and therefore, we should make a little effort to incorporate it in our daily life, something which we often forget.
