Mental Health is Equally Important

Physical health is given utmost importance and should be given top priority to live a disease free life to some extent. It is correctly said that health is wealth. But health does not mean only physical health. Along with physical health we should not forget that Mental Health is equally important.  Physical and Mental health go hand in hand. Both have to be maintained equally with equal attention for quality healthy and happy life.

What is Mental Health?

Our emotions, how we think, our attitude, social wellbeing are all included in mental health. It’s important to have sound mental health to have a happy life and a positive approach.

How to determine our healthy mental status?

If we are eating or sleeping too much/too less, if we are getting angry/upset easily and screaming at others without  provocation, If we think about harming ourselves or have no motivation and low energy, all these signs may indicate  the side effects of an unhealthy mental status.

If we are motivated, happy and bouncing with energy, have the capacity of accepting the present situation and most importantly if we are productive this relates to our healthy mental status.

There are ways to achieve a good and sound Mental health:

1.Focus – by focusing we mean that we should concentrate on one task and try to achieve it in perfection rather than trying to be multi-tasking and straining ourselves.

2.Take out time for yourself – It’s important to do stuffs that defines you and your personality time to time in order to boost your mood and have a healthy mental status. When you spend some time in doing stuffs that you personally like it will give you pleasure and diversion from the regular stress full life.

3.Be Positive – We all face situations in our lives where we are sometimes heart broken or de – motivated or we do not get enough in return for our hard work. But by having a calm and positive approach towards situations and facing these problems with the attitude of solving them, helps tremendously in achieving good mental health.

4.Indulge in your hobby – It’s important to indulge in some hobby like reading, painting, and photography and so on to relax your mind and to de – stress yourself. Hobbies stimulate your brain and helps in flowing positive energy within you.

5.Activate your brains – this can be achieved by indulging in social groups, helping others, getting physically active and applying some of your ideas practically in life whether its work related, family related or just enjoyment related.

I personally give lot of importance to Mental fitness which gives not only me but everyone around me lots of joy and happiness. If I am motivated I can spread positive energy around myself and help others achieve a complete healthy lifestyle. According to me, a healthy mind is always more creative and spreads happiness all around and has more coping capabilities.

Health tip of the week

“Mental and physical fitness should be scheduled next to each other to achieve complete fitness”.

I love the idea of scheduling time to attend to mental health. Most people wait until mental illness appears to even consider this.
