Party Invite? UMM! Don’t know how to manage your diet plan? A bugging thought in mind? Feeling scared of the calories? Hungry? Yet avoiding to eat? Hoping that the host doesn’t get offended by you refusing the food offered? Still Hungry? Don’t know what to do? Can’t wait to go home and eat?

The good news is- You can manage diet along with parties.

I would like to share how I manage my party invites and my diet routine.

I am a party freak. Therefore, I am always eager to attend parties and other invitations. Also, I love eating out and trying different cuisines. Initially I used to starve before going to any parties/invitations and then indulge in huge helpings. As a result, I often failed to maintain my diet schedule/plan which was mostly on weekends. And by the time I get back to my diet plan another weekend is planned. As a consequence, I gained a lot of weight.

One evening when I was unable to fit into my favorite dress I decided to change my strategy. Initially it took me few weeks to figure out how to manage my diet along with party invites.

We all know that we have control over our choices of food when we decide to eat out in a restaurant, but if there is any party invite we have to go by the flow. I agree that the options are limited. At the same time one of us want to miss out on an invite just because we have to follow a certain diet plan.

If I have an invitation, I first make a diet plan for that particular day. I make sure to leave scope in my diet for the party food. At the same time I make sure I am not starving, so I eat a bowl of salad or a bowl of fruits before the party. They keep me energetic and don’t add to the calories too much. If an invitation suddenly comes up with a few hours’ notice, then I make sure to do some physical activity like walking before the party. I stay hydrated all day so that I don’t feel drained or tired. Also I have scope to indulge in a drink or two.

I keep a close watch on my intake of appetizers offered since they mostly are fried and don’t fill up the stomach but they seriously add up to the calories.

I focus more on the people and their conversations rather than thinking about the food. The more you get involved with your surroundings the less you would want to indulge in food and more fun you will have in these parties.

I am never the first one to reach out the food table.  Also, I always chat with people and gradually move towards the food. I am conscious of what I eat and drink.

If there are salads options or some grilled food laid on the table, then I opt for those food items rather than the fried and heavy food. I keep myself light in the party and never over eat. Also,I always avoid the dessert round. I rather ask for a glass of water. This way I save on lot of sugar and fat in my diet.

Last but not the least; I don’t forget to get back to my diet and workout schedule the very next day.

Health Tip of the week

“Eat and drink mindfully in the parties and enjoy the invites while sticking to your diet plan”.
