Now that the holiday season is almost there we can feel the excitement all over and smell Christmas in the air. Cookies, candies, treats, drinks and the packing calories that come along is where we are heading. But it’s important to indulge during holidays, to take a break from our regular schedule and refresh ourselves for the normal routine. At the same time you may not want to regret later on having put on those extra pounds and might be wondering the best way to balance leisure and healthy eating while enjoying the holidays.

Here are some tips to eat smartly and wisely during holidays:

1.The first thing is mindful eating. Keep your senses intact and make right judgements before digging into your plate or grabbing the food from the buffet table.

2.Make sure to exercise and burn off the calories everyday even during the holidays. That will keep your metabolism function proper and help you fight the gaining of extra pounds.

3.Snack on nuts, vegetables and hummus or fruits before going for shopping or before a party. This help keep you safe from overeating since you won’t be starving.

4.Distract yourself by socializing more rather than focusing on food.

5.Try to keep yourself hydrated with water at intervals and avoid too much consumption of sugar leaded drinks.

6.Try to stand in the party as much as possible. This will not only burn few calories but will help you in digestion.

7.Do the napkin test by dabbing the dry food items with it. If the napkin gets too oily don’t consume that food item.

8.The visual effect of a buffet table impacts hugely. Be aware of that and try to keep all your senses intact and track your calories.

Health tip of the week.

“Indulge during holidays wisely”.
