This juicy and tantalizing Cherry Orange Salsa perfectly pairs with chips or tortillas. Its versatile enough to be enjoyed as a salad itself. This quick and fat free snack is a great party appetizer too.
Have you been going for cherry picking lately? Isn’t it loads of fun? Well, we love this summer activity but the tough part is always left for me.
Yup! You got it right!! Preserving these gorgeous red ripe cherries and using them efficiently.
However, combining cherries and oranges to get the right flavor was a challenge. Even though it brewed in my mind I had to really work on this combination.
Moreover, getting the approval from my family was totally another challenge for me.
However, everything combined well and I got a thumbs up for this orange salsa.
I love to much on dips and salsas with chips or while watching my favorite shows on the TV. Sometimes if its a fruit salsa I enjoy it in a salad form.
Oranges are so refreshing and hydrating. I must admit that they are versatile fruit too with being very low in calories.
Therefore, I have tried spicy orange cauliflower as a savory entrée and orange protein bars to satisfy my sweet cravings.
These recipes were winner but tossing this fruit in a salsa was another level altogether.
Therefore, today I am here to share this awesome and family favorite cherry orange salsa recipe with you.
Ingredients you will need
Cherries
Oranges
Red Onion
Green bell pepper
Jalapeno
Salt
Lime/lemon juice
Cilantro
I have used these easily available ingredients which you may buy from any local grocery store.
Ingredients notes:
Cherries – Its sweet and beautiful color enhancing this recipe and plays an important role here.
Oranges – loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants its tangy and yet sweet flavor along with its juicy texture is absolutely desired.
Jalapeno – just to add a bit of spicy taste but not too spicy as well. Moreover, you may remove the seeds.
Cilantro – no salsa is complete without this herb and its adds to its beauty and nutrition too.
Onion – I used red onion here because its best when eaten in raw form.
Green bell pepper – this adds to the taste and flavor.
How to make Cherry Orange Salsa
Firstly, I deseeded the cherries and crushed them in the food processor. I made sure that its not blended just roughly crushed so that they are still tiny bite sized.
Secondly, I spooned out the cherries in a mixing bowl and tossed in orange, onion, jalapeno and green bell pepper.
Next, I seasoned it with salt and lemon juice.
Lastly, garnished with fresh cilantro.
Within minutes the beautiful and mouthwatering Cherry Orange Salsa was ready.
I also feel that in these warm sunny days, this recipe is the quickest and the most refreshing dip.
I love the sweet, spicy, tangy and salty flavors mixed in one bowl and eaten guilt free as a salad.
However, my Husband insists that salsa is incomplete without chips. So he makes sure to dip salty tortilla chips into it.
This taste best when prepared the same day and served. However, you may prepare it a day ahead and refrigerate in a glass container.
Its is sweet with a mild tang to it. Its slightly spicy and salty along wiht being juicy and chewy.
You may enjoy it with tortilla chips or simply enjoy it as a fruit salad. You may top it on your favorite baked/grilled protein.
